Speaking of Southern Lord, it looks like their webstore has a few copies of Sleep's The Clarity left on vinyl.  The ten minute track is pressed at 45rpm on the a-side and there's an etched b-side.

And speaking of Sleep, Al Cisneros' other project, Om, will be releasing a live album through Outer Battery.  There will be 200 on red vinyl and 800 on gold.

I'm still waiting on my copy of the Velvet Underground's super deluxe box set of their self-titled album.  I was waiting to find one at a friendlier price and ordered one from England.  The place I ordered it from also had Dinosaur Jr.'s Hand It Over on vinyl.  Hooray.

Episode 80: Crawling Out Of The Black Friday Bunker

Greeting Dear Listener,

Those jackbooted thugs known as Santa Claus and Baby Jesus are bearing down on us mightily.  I'm not sure how much more merriment I can handle and it's only the 3rd.

The trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released over the weekend.  The only thing the trailer did for me was reaffirm my notion that the internet is a racist.  How people can flip their wigs over a black stormtrooper is beyond me.

First of all, it is set 30 years after Return Of The Jedi.  Maybe all of the Jango "Died Like A Bitch" Fett clones died off or took the Imperial retirement offer.  After all, they were on two Death Stars that got blowed up.  Who would still want to work there after that?  Maybe the Empire went trolling for fodder at local community colleges and high schools.  The economy on a desert planet can't be that great.  Beyond the secondhand droid market, where's someone going to get a job?  Fuck it, sign up for stormtroopering and you'll get to see the galaxy.  You don't even need to know how to aim your blaster.  Just blindly pull the trigger and hope for the best.

Second of all, Star Wars isn't real.  Sorry to burst any bubbles but it's not an historical account of anything.  It's a made up story.  Take a breath and shut the fuck up.  Maybe those shitty prequels would have been better if they'd have cloned Django instead of Jango.

AMC has been rolling out clips before Better Call Saul starts up in February.  I am so glad Jonathan Banks signed on for the show.

I damn near forgot that with a new Deerhoof release, there might be a Deerhoof flexi-book to go with it.  The La Isla Bonita flexi-book is out now and is a sight to be seen.  There were only 500 made and they may have sold out by now.  Go to the Polyvinyl site to find out.  Joyful Noise put it together and released another instructional video to go with it.

Recently, there was a joint release between Mind Cure and A-F Records to press Modey Lemons self-titled album to vinyl.  The CD release from the 00's was good.  This vinyl pressing will liquify your brain.

Modey Lemon's House On The Hill demo CDR was also pressed to vinyl by Omentum Records.

Episode 79: Humans For Life + Humans Till Deth

Greetings Dear Listener,

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Sons Of Anarchy happened on The Planet Of The Apes?  Well a couple of folks did and put together a comic book about it.  Get yourselves to your local comics store and pick up The Humans.  Issue #1 is out now and #2 comes out in early December.  Issue #0 was self-published and bundled with a single featuring Zig Zags and Smelly Tongues.  Each issue going forward will have a free download for a new song from a different band.

I staggered out to the movie theater last week to see the advanced screening of Rosewater.  Jon Stewart made one fine movie.  The post-film conversation that was streamed into the theater gave me the phrase "weaponized banal idiocy."  I've been having a lot of fun with those words.

While goofing around on the internets, I came across the greatest t-shirt design ever.  Sadly, it is no longer available.  Hail Satan like a mother-fucker.

White Wives will be playing on December 18th.  Advance tickets are available here.  They're finally getting around to playing a record release show for the single they put out last year.

Throat singing bad asses, Huun-Huur-Tu were in town a few weeks ago.  I missed the show due to the fact that I forgot about it until the day after.  Dammit.

Ty Segall released a second collection of singles this week.  $ingle$ 2 is the title of it.  Vinyl and downloads can be found here.  And I'm sure by the time you are done reading this Ty will have put out another record.  Prolific, he is.

The last time I was over at Mind Cure, the singles bin was rife with quality 45's.  "Was" is the operative word.  Now my shelf is rife with quality 45's.  A large chunk of this episode consists of singles I dubbed into the digital realm.  Enjoy.  Loudly.

Episode 78: Dia De Los Muertos

Greetings Dear Listener,

There is not too much to report this time around so I'll keep this brief.

It's been rather hectic here at the home office so I haven't been paying much attention to the news of the nerd.

World's Scariest Police Chases played their final two shows last week.  Of course I missed the show that was local.  I found out about it the morning after it happened.  Oops.  I did peel the flyer for the show off of the wall in the stairwell at the record store.

Lemuria will be out on tour this winter.  They're giving away a free single with every advanced ticket sale.  They've also got a holiday flexi-postcard in their webstore.

And no, it's not that Prince opening.

Am I the only one that noticed yesterday's election results were another example of this country's long standing tradition of voting against their own best interests?  The Empire is falling and we're all witnessing the history firsthand.  When the aliens study this time period, their heads will burst with laughter.  We are fucked.  Hooray.

Episode 77: Boo

Happy Halloween Dear Listener,

And nothing screams Halloween more than Glenn Danzig buying kitty litter.

As Halloween is upon us and Christmas decorations are already in the stores, this episode will serve as our salute to all things sweet and evil.  This episode was a great deal of fun to put together so I hope you enjoy it.

Joyous news came earlier this week.  Sleater-Kinney will be putting out a new record in January and touring this winter.  No Cities To Love is available to pre-order in multiple formats over at Sub Pop.  The first single is Bury Our Friends and was included as a one-sided 45 in the Stay Together box set that was released this week.  Here's the video for it:

J Mascis came through town last week and completely crippled my brain.  I never thought that one man with an acoustic guitar could give a PA such a hard time.  Denny The Sound Guy had one helluva time keeping it from reaching meltdown.  I skipped dinner to get to the venue early for a good seat and a cup of coffee.  My efforts paid off two-fold because I got to meet the man and thank him for taking years off of my hearing.  Here's a picture that I took from my table:

The opening act was a band from Australia called Luluc.  They were great except for the fact that my 15 year old brain could not get over the fact that they looked like Cate Blanchett and Russell Brand gave up acting to become Australia's fourth most popular folk duo.  I crack me up.

The Gaslight Anthem played last week as well and they brought Against Me! with them.  Other than the shitty venue and excessive lights, it was a great show.  Going on after Against Me! every night has got to be a great challenge.

And of course, every time I say that I'll never go back to that venue someone gets booked there.  Sleater-Kinney will be playing that beer filled toilet bowl in March.  Something tells me they will break that shitty PA that was designed for electronic music.

Last week, Iggy Pop gave a lecture on the state of music and other such topics at an event dedicated to the BBC's John Peel.  The man dropped the science for about an hour.  You can go here to download it.

A few months ago, Sleep released The Clarity as a free digital download through Adult Swim.  I thought a 12-inch single with an etched b-side would have been a great idea.  Apparently Sleep did too.  They pressed up 1,000 of them back in August and I missed it.  I had to get mine from a record flipper on the ebays.  Savages.  Here's what the b-side looks like:

And it seems that there will be a cartoon involving Mike Tyson and mystery solving.  Here's the first episode:

In more bizarre news, there was an online petition demanding that Toys R Us stop selling Breaking Bad themed toys.  The woman who started the petition ended up on the Today Show saying that it sets a bad example for children to sell toys that come with tiny bags of plastic meth.  Maybe she should stop complaining about the toys and just ignore them.  If she's not going to buy the toys for her children then what's the problem?  The lady also failed to notice that these toys are sold in Wal-Marts and other retailers but did not mention them in her petition.  Maybe the example we should show our children is how a well crafted a story and following through on that idea as far as they possibly can, regardless of how goofy it might be, could end up with action figures being made of that idea.  People are assholes with nothing better to do.  And doesn't every G.I. Joe and Transformer come with a gun?

Episode 76: Hangin' With Zorak

Greetings Dear Listener,

When I got home from day job today, this fine creature was sitting on my porch so I used a picture of it as the episode artwork.  It doesn't look that evil.

This episode is a bit heavy with Mind Cure releases but it's not my fault that the store keeps putting out quality releases.

Walter from Gorilla Biscuits/Quicksand/Rival Schools is in a new band called Vanishing Life.  It's considered a "super-group" because there are members of ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Rise Against in the band.  Although, no one in the band has lasers coming out of their eyes so I fail to see how they are "super" but I do like their music.

And another Hard Traveling Heroes type band is Moral Mazes.  It's got J. Robbins (Jawbox) and Jonah Matranga (Far) in it.  Their single is titled Magic Tommy Jackson and has the best artwork ever.

Deerhoof has released another track from their forthcoming album La Isla Bonita.  This one's called Paradise Girls.

On November 24th, the Velvet Underground's third album, The Velvet Underground, is getting the 6-disc hard bound book/box set treatment.  There will be remastered stereo and mono versions and an alternate Lou Reed mix.  Hooray.  My ears can't wait.

Iceage put out a new record this week, Plowing Into The Field Of Love.  I gave it a few listens today and I'm enjoying it but I'm still waiting for it to grab me.  The band may be falling into the trap of over complicating their records.

Whirr has been busy of late.  They put out a new record called Sway, they are reissuing Pipe Dreams and they've got a split 12-inch EP coming out in November with nothing.

The new Weezer record, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, came out this week as well and my goodness is it a fun 42 minutes.

J Mascis and the Gaslight Anthem will be in town next week.  Wednesday and Friday, respectively.  The Gaslight Anthem show is sold out and there may still be tickets available for J.

There's a movie about Fela Kuti floating about from town to town.  Get out to see it if you can.  Music is the weapon, indeed.

Gotham has forever endeared itself to my heart.  Or at least their music director anyway.  They played the Stooges during a fight scene.  There's nothing better than mixing Iggy with Batman.

The Flash started last night.  It looks like it will be lighter and a lot more fun than most modern comic treatments.  Arrow started tonight and hopefully it stops looking like a soap opera and maybe they'll let the male actors start wearing shirts more often.

ComiCon was a few weeks ago.  Here's a picture of the Batmobile:

They wanted $10.00 to sit in it.  I almost laughed at the guy when he told me that.

I did get to meet Chris Yambar.  He's an artist for the Simpsons comics put out by Bongo Comics.  Here's a picture of a drawing he made:

Episode 75: Ouch, I Bent My iPhone

Greetings Dear Listener,

Breaking news on the technology front:  If you leave your iPhone 6 Plus in your pants pocket for too long, it may bend due to your body temperature.  Using the new iOS8 app known as EtherFace, Apple held a teleconference with their CEO from The Ether.  Steve Jobs opened his comments with a question, "Why don't you take the fucking phone out of your fucking pocket, you fucking morons?"  The still deceased, glowing image of Mr. Jobs continued, "Does Apple have to do everything for you?  You know what, next time we'll make the fucking thing out of adamantium with a kryptonite screen.  If you don't stop bothering me with this piddly shit, I'll put the entire U2 discography on your iTunes.  That'll teach you to complain about stupid shit.  Aren't there real problems in the world?"  Suddenly, the ghost of Jobs reversed his position by following up with, "Oh, wait.  What I meant to say was, the iPhone 7 will come with an optional pocket cooling device.  The pocket cooling device will only cost an additional $299.99."  The ether-teleconference came to an abrupt end when a reporter commented that the prototype for the pocket cooling device that Jobs held up looked suspiciously like a common sandwich bag with three ice cubes in it.  Thus proving that even in death, Steve Jobs was a giant prick.

In sports news from The Onion:  Players for the Pittsburgh Steelers will wear a patch on their jerseys this season to honor the victims of Ben Roethlisberger.  I keep wondering why the media keeps asking his opinion about his violent colleagues taking their work home with them.  I guess the press is trying to find someone with experience in football and maximum levels of douchebaggery.

Time To Die by Electric Wizard is streaming on NPR's First Listen.  Brain liquifying volume is required.

Fugazi's first demo has been mastered and will be released on November 18th.  Pre-orders are up on Dischord.  There won't be any new Fugazi so first Fugazi is the next best thing.

New episodes of South Park are starting.  The first episode seems to be about the Washington Redskins being offended that Cartman started a company called the Washington Redskins.  Hooray.

Gotham started the other night.  Goddammit, that show is going to be great.

Episode 74: Ugh

Garfunkel & Oates have done it again.  Here's The Loophole:

According to poor journalism, Sidney Crosby had an interesting altercation with police in Ottawa.  The story was retracted almost as soon as it was released.  Here's a funny follow up story that's just as made up as the original:  Sid vs The Bounty Hunters.  Sadly, the writers of the article chickened out at the end and said it was fiction.

There are a ton of new releases slated for the next few months.

Electric Wizard unleashes Time To Die upon the world at the end of September.  Spinefarm will be putting the record out.

Sleater-Kinney's catalogue gets reissued by Sub Pop in October.  There's a box set titled Stay Together with colored vinyl.  The individual albums will be available on black vinyl.

Sub Pop will also be reissuing Shallow by Pissed Jeans.  Their Throbbing Organ single has also been repressed and will be included with the reissue of Shallow.

The soundtrack for the film Clerks will be pressed on vinyl for the first time.  500 will be on black and white vinyl and 1,500 will be clear with black smoke.  It's a double LP with an etched D-side.  Shop Radio Cast is handling the release and it's due out on November 11th.  That date may move around a bit because they are always optimistic about their test pressings and jacket printing.

Deerhoof will be releasing La Isla Bonita on November 4th.  If the rest of the record is as good as the first single then Deerhoof could quite possibly take over the world.  Go here to pre-order.

Body Count's self-titled album is being reissued on vinyl.  I'm not sure who is handling the release but I don't think Cop Killer will be on the release.  Too many people would whine about it.

Pittsburgh band Gotobeds have released Poor People Are Revolting recently.  They somehow ended up on the NPR first listen website.  Not surprisingly, the comments section was not friendly.  Too many heads are up too many asses over there for people to enjoy anything.  Take a listen to it over on their bandcamp page.

The deluxe vinyl picture disc version of Gaslight Anthem's Get Hurt landed in my mailbox today.  It's quite the thing of beauty.  The limited edition of the standard version of Get Hurt won't be out until next month or so.  It seems that Island Records wasn't capable of dealing with colored/splattered vinyl in a timely manner.  Hooray for conglomerates.

DC Entertainment is going to try to make Aquaman not look like a tool.  Justice League: Throne Of Atlantis will be the next animated feature coming to DVD.  No matter how much effort they put into making Aquaman look like a bad ass, he always gets a good laugh out of me.

Episode 73: Oink

Greetings Dear Listener,

As I type this I am listening to the new Sarah Silverman record, We Are Miracles.  Holy shit is it funny.  The album stream is now available to those that pre-ordered.

A special thanks to the kind folks over at Exotic Fever Records.  I ordered War on Women's record and the label sent me a bunch of free records along with it.

My brain is fried with all of the new records that have been coming out over the past few weeks.  Zig-Zags, Ty Segall, J. Mascis and Gaslight Anthem.  Whoever says new music sucks has no idea what they are missing.

The clear vinyl for Melt-Banana's Fetch album has finally started to circulate on the internets.  Last I had heard the label gave up on the clear vinyl due to manufacturing issues.  I guess they got that figured out.  Good for us.

The Melvins will be releasing Hold It In on October 14th.  The only pre-order I've seen for it so far has been on the Amazon for the mp3.  No CD or vinyl as of yet.

Le Butcherettes' Cry Is For The Flies will finally get a vinyl release on September 30th.  There seems to be different artwork for the Ipecac release than what was used for the thumbnail artwork on the download from earlier this year.

The two CD Japanese import version of Boris's Noise album can be found for an almost reasonable price.  This is also on the Amazon.  I called around to a few local record stores and they were unable to get it from any of their distributors.

The OFF! show went off without a hitch the other night.  No insufferable drunks invaded my area to ruin the evening.

The RVIVR/War On Women/Zeitgeist show a few weeks back was a good time out.  Due to a rather nasty cold/fever I had to miss RVIVR but War On Women certainly won me over and Zeitgeist was even better the second time.

If you've got an extra $450 laying around, there's a purple Dinosaur Jr. turntable for sale in their merch store.  $450 and it's not even direct drive.  If I want a purple turntable that badly, I know how to use paint.

***Update*** Apparently quite a few people had an extra $450 laying around.  The purple turntable has sold out.

The Worlds Scariest Police Chases track on the program can be found here.  I was unaware of Unfuckwithable until recently.  What a pleasant surprise that was.

The Batman: Assault On Arkham DVD is out.  Kevin Conroy is back as the voice of Batman.  Hooray.

Episode 71: A Couple Of Js

Greetings Dear Listener,

You know it's going to be a long day at the office when you walk in and the two king idiot mouth flappers are somehow simultaneously discussing partial birth abortion and the varying personalities of dogs.  Because those two subjects are completely intertwined.  I hate my life.

Add that to my experience at the Anti-Flag show this past weekend and I am thoroughly convinced that humanity is doomed.  Vile, stupid, bipedal beasts will be the end of life on this planet.

This episode brings us back to our regularly scheduled programming after celebrating the lives and music of the Ramones.  It's all J Mascis and J Robbins.  The episode runs long but I think you'll dig it.

There is new music from Sleep.  The Clarity is damn near ten minutes of sludgy, stoner goodness.  It's available as a free download from Adult Swim.  Sleep was week number seven.  A twelve inch single with laser etched artwork on the b-side would be nice.  Hint, hint.

I came across a decent sounding download of the self-titled album from the Stains.  The Stains were a band from Southern California in the early 1980's.  Their record came out and then disappeared.  Supposedly there was a payment issue between the band and their label.  That is one of the reasons the record has never been reissued and has fallen to obscurity.  Once you discover what label the Stains were on, you won't be surprised by the difficulties the band had.

I recently finished re-reading Douglas Adams' The Long Dark Teatime Of The Soul.  I want to see it turned into a movie set in the context of the cinematic Marvel Universe.  At least as one of those half hour short films they put on as extras for the DVD's.

Comedy Central has outdone themselves.  Shart Week starts this Sunday at 8pm.  I would like to see sharks beat a week's worth of poop jokes.

The trailer for Kevin Smith's Tusk movie has been released.  It looks creepily amazing and I can't wait until September to see it.  WalrusYes, like a mother fucker.

Episode 69: 69, Dude!

Greetings Dear Listener,

Hopefully you will come out of this weekend of independence with your thumbs intact.  To celebrate this strange country of ours we'll listen to Pete Seeger and Anti-Flag sing songs about Joe Hill.

After months of trying to track them down, I finally saw Zeitgeist the other night.  They opened for Jello Biafra's new band along with Submachine.  Both bands played to the stunning apathy that only a Pittsburgh audience can provide.  And people wonder why there isn't a much larger scene in this town with more all-ages shows.

Zeitgeist tore it up.  The band was incredibly tight and the singer, Tilley, was an absolute monster on stage.  I am very curious to see how she would attack a real crowd.  Go to their bandcamp page for downloads and check Mind Cure for the self-titled vinyl and single.

Speaking of Mind Cure, Mike will be hosting an event for the single of the month box set at the Pittsburgh Filmmakers Melwood Screening Room on July 5th at 7pm.  He'll be screening all twelve videos that were filmed to coincide with each of the twelve singles that came out in the series.  To cap off the evening, The Gotobeds will be playing at Gooski's at 10pm.

And in more Mind Cure news, the Battered Citizens' Police Brutality demo has been reissued and pressed on vinyl.  Battered Citizens was a late 80s band from Pittsburgh.  Members of the band went on to play in Submachine and Killer Of Sheep.  The record comes with a download that includes two shows from the Electric Banana.

There is a kids summer camp called Girls Rock! Pittsburgh.  It's a week long camp where girls learn how to write/record a song and play in a band.  At the end of the week there is a showcase where all of the bands play.  Not only do the campers learn about music but there are also Women's History classes and seminars dealing with body image and discrimination.  The first session was last week but there is a second session in August.  Go here for more information.

Ice-T's band Body Count put out a new record called Manslaughter.  I'm not sure if the world was looking for a new Body Count record but by golly it sure is entertaining.

Cartoon Network's Adult Swim has been putting out a steady amount of compilations for free download.  They also have a summer singles club.  This year it's sixteen bands over sixteen weeks.  Sleep is slated to be the single for week seven.  Go here to check it out.

Teri Gender Bender and Omar Rodriguez are apparently in yet another band and this time it's with John Frusciante.  Kimono Kult put out an EP back in March called Hiding In The Light.  Teri's singing in Spanish.  It is four tracks of awesome and it's available to download on bandcamp.

Greg Ginn's new version of Black Flag played in town last week.  I gave a passing thought to going to the show.  I'm glad I forgot about it until the day after.  Something tells me it would have been a let down.  That and the fact that I don't want to give the Ginn any more of my money.

Episode 68: The People Have Lost Their Poet

The world lost Rik Mayall a few weeks ago.  You may have known him as Rick or Prick or The Peoples Poet from the British comedy The Young Ones.  Here's a brilliant sample of his work:

Boris' new album Noise came out this week.  It is a thing of beauty.  That record has completely ruined my listening habits.  I can't not listen to it.

August is shaping up to be an amazing month of releases.  J Mascis and The Gaslight Anthem both have new records out that month.  And they'll both be coming through Pittsburgh in October.

Sub Pop will be releasing Tied To A Star for J.  If you pre-order through them, you'll get colored vinyl and an immediate download of the first single Every Morning.  He'll be playing at a club the size of my living room when he hits town.

Get Hurt by The Gaslight Anthem will be released in a few different ways.  There will be splattered vinyl available through their web store in August followed by deluxe double vinyl picture discs that will have bonus tracks in September.  And they'll be touring with Against Me!  Unfortunately, the show is at the venue that shall not be named but certainly try to get beer in me.  Boycott broken.  Grrr.

Tacocat is one of my new favorite bands.  They certainly don't take themselves too seriously.  They're on Hardly Art which is some sort of off-shoot of Sub Pop.  And they've got a bandcamp page.

A Million Ways To Die In The West was worth leaving the house for based solely on the Doc Brown cameo.

X-Men Days Of Future Past was good but much like all of the other X-Men movies it felt like it was lacking something.

Episode 67: Was Godzilla Even In Godzilla?

Greetings Dear Listener,

Bill Hicks had a bit about hotel pay-per-view adult features.  He referred to them as hairy bobbing man ass movies because all of the good parts were cut out.  Leaving nothing but shots of hairy bobbing man ass.  That's how I felt about the latest version of Godzilla.  Every time you thought they would show the monster, they would cut away to characters that weren't giant laser-breathing lizards.  That's $9.00 I'll never get back.

This week saw the release of This Machine Kills Artists by Buzz from the Melvins.  He's putting it out under the name King Buzzo.  Here's the album cover:

Anti-Flag announced this week that they will be releasing a best of called A Document Of Dissent to commemorate their 20th anniversary.  It's a split release between A-F Records and Fat Wreck.  Each label has their own color variant limited to 250 copies each.  Here's the artwork for that too:

In other Anti-Flag news, they have scheduled a few tour dates around the release of A Document Of Dissent.  And Chris #2 has a new side project called Resistor.  They've posted a single on bandcamp.  Go here to give it a listen.

The first Rollins Band album, Life Time, is going to get a vinyl reissue through Dischord.  No release date has been set yet but all of the paperwork has been signed off on.  I can't wait for a decent vinyl pressing of this record.  I've had a few used copies of the old Texas Hotel pressings but they've all skipped at different spots.  Their previous owners must have been some sort of savages.

I finally came up with a reasonably priced copy of The Mark Of Cain's record that came out last year.  Songs Of The Third And Fifth was not distributed in North America and not too many places had it as an import at a reasonable price.  Patience paid off big time.  It is one solid piece of vinyl.

The Menzingers and Lemuria are playing in town this week.  It looks like I'll be leaving the house for that one.

Episode 66: Did They Really Need To Reboot Groundhog Day?

Greetings Dear Listener,

Did you notice how the new Tom Cruise movie, Edge Of Tomorrow, is just a remake of Groundhog Day but with robots, explosions and Tom Cruise.  Hooray for originality!!!

It seems that Submachine and Zeitgeist will be opening for Jello Biafra and The Guantanamo School Of Medicine.  The show is on Monday, June 30th at Mr. Smalls.  I may have to leave the house on a Monday.  Dammit.

La Sera has a new record out.  Hour Of The Dawn came out last week.  Anything with Katy Goodman is worth checking out.  Hardly Art handled the release.  Go here for more info.

Cry Is For The Flies is officially out now.  The latest version for download has a track featuring Shirley Manson from Garbage.  Go over to their bandcamp page to check it out.  I cannot wait for the vinyl on this one.

The trailer for Gotham was released recently.  I get chills every time I see it.

Not to be outdone, The Flash trailer was also released.

And in further news of the nerd, Zack Snyder released the first picture of Affleck in the Batsuit.

Of course the internet threw a fit.  If the internet doesn't like it maybe the internet should make its own Superman/Batman movie.  Or just shut the hell up for a minute.

According to the USPS website, my Boris/Heap split single will be here tomorrow.  I wonder if we'll be hearing that next time around.

Episode 65: This Mediocrity Is Killing Us All

Greetings Dear Listener,

I'm not sure that I want to live in a world where the number one selling album for the past several weeks has been the soundtrack to a shitty Disney movie.  And there's news that the new Coldplay record may take its spot.  What the fuck?  Let it go indeed.

In honor of the NHL playoffs here's a link to the greatest use of a telestrator ever.  Oddly enough, that was the last time Bob Errey was allowed to draw on the screen.

There is a brand new Le Butcherettes album out.  Cry Is For The Flies is phenomenal.  There was an advance download for folks who pre-ordered on bandcamp but the album will officially be released on May 15th.  Rumor has it there will be a vinyl release in June.  Go to http://lebutcherettes.net/ for more info.

There have been a few J Robbins related reissues.  Jawbox's Novelty has been remastered and pressed on clear vinyl.  And both Channels releases have been pressed on vinyl.  All three are available at Dischord.  The prices on the Channels records are a bit higher since they are German imports but totally worth it.

J Mascis has resurrected his label called Baked Goods.  The first release will be a split single featuring Boris and Heap.  Outer Battery Records will be handling distribution duties.  The single is limited to 500 copies on purple vinyl.

I finally obtained a copy of the Negative Trend reissue.  The CD reissue was good but the vinyl reissue is amazing.  Superior Viaduct does great work.

David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust has been reissued on pink vinyl as a UK import.  I cannot recommend buying it.  The mastering used for the pressing had too much low end which causes the needle to jump out of the grooves at times.

The Breaking Bad soundtrack has been delayed until the end of May.  I'm hoping it's because they are trying to perfect the baby blue coloring with the purity of the vinyl.

There's a new Batman animated movie that came out this week.  Here's the trailer for Son Of Batman.

As much as everyone took to the internets to bitch about Damian, I never had a problem with the character.  He is just a drawing on paper after all.

I can't figure out all of the hate that was thrown at Amazing Spider-Man 2.  I enjoyed it.  Gwen Stacy died and Gidget made me roll a tear.  What else could you ask for from a Spider-Man movie?  Was everyone hoping for another song and dance number?  Oh well.
