Episode 33: Go Team Venture!!!

Greetings Dear Listener,

Prepare yourselves for May 19th when new episodes of the Venture Bros. air.  Ever since the homeschool prom episode I have been chomping at the bit for more.  Cartoon greatness is imminent.  Hooray.

Put your helmets on for Tuesday March 5th.  That is the day the Hendrix mono remasters are going to be unleashed upon us.  They are going to be pressed on 200-gram vinyl.  Make sure you know a trusty contractor to help piece your house back together after it gets shaken apart by these monsters.

News on the Stooges front:  April 30th is the day Fat Possum releases their new album Ready To Die.  There was no information on who is producing so I'm hoping they lost Steve Albini's phone number.

Here's the link for the press release and pre-order info:

Iggy & The Stooges Ready To Die Press Release

We get our first visit from Wesley Willis on our journey.  "Get your ass to a barber and tell him your sick of looking like a asshole."  The man was a genius.

The Gaslight Anthem have produced a short film.  "Every Word Handwritten" was streaming on the Rolling Stone website but it is no longer there.  They replaced it with the trailer.  It might be floating around on the internets somewhere.  It's certainly worth the fifteen minutes it takes to watch it.

We get into a b-side from Iceage's new album You're Nothing.  "A Rifle" can be found on the Ecstasy single.  Matador is their new label and is also distributing the single.

There are a few reminders on the playlist this time around.

Always remember that Rick Santorum is an idiot.  Remember that Trayvon Martin was murdered by a dumb ass.  And don't forget that two members of Pussy Riot are still serving time in a gulag for speaking out against bullshit.

Thanks for listening.

Episode 32: What The Hell Happened To Marco Rubio?

Greetings Dear Listener,

That was quite the rebuttal the fine senator from Florida gave the other night.  Way to lay an egg and then stomp on it, Senator.  And what moron set up the shoot without the water within reach? Ha ho.

Enough about our crumbling empire, let's get into the music.

Great news on the Rival Schools front.

Many moons ago, Walter and company went into a few studios to work on what was going to be their second album.  For whatever reason the sessions were not completed.  Eventually, the tracks landed on the internets in varying sound quality.

The band has now seen fit to give the songs a proper mastering and release.  The title is Found and it will be released on April 9th.  The vinyl comes in a few different colors.

Here's the link to the Rival Schools website to put in your pre-order:

Brendan Canty of Fugazi is in a new band called Deathfix.  Their record comes out on February 26th on Dischord.  They're heading out on tour in March.  If they're coming to your town, I suggest you get there.  The pre-order comes with an immediate download.  I haven't been able to stop listening to it since it landed on my hard drive.

The J Robbins fronted band Burning Airlines has pressed their two records on vinyl.  Dischord is handling the distribution on this as well.  The prices on the Burning Airlines are a bit higher for Dischord releases but all proceeds are going to benefit J's son Callum.  Callum suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy and needs all the help he can get.

In other J Robbins news, Office Of Future Plans will be releasing a split single with the French band Daria.  No release date has been posted yet.

Here's the link to the Dischord site:

The first At The Drive-in record, Acrobatic Tenement, will be reissued on March 5th.  Hopefully the mastering was well done.

Forgetters are out and about on tour.  They'll be in Pittsburgh on March 30th.  If they're playing here, they must be playing everywhere.

One final word on recent news:  Steven Seagal has offered his services to help train armed guards in our schools.  Am I the only one that is suddenly looking to the horizon for horsemen bringing the Apocalypse?  We are fucked.

Until next time.

Thanks for listening.
