Here are pictures of Henry Rollins performing spoken word at Rock Jungle on February 7, 2003. I can't remember if I took these pictures or if my sister did. Either way, they ended up in the box of old photos that I've been going through while in quarantine.
It was the Manic On A Mission tour. The one story that I remember from that night was how he was a witness to Joe Strummer quietly singing a song to Johnny Cash at a reception for one of the records that Rick Ruben produced for Johnny.
Rock Jungle was a dance club that tried to do shows toward the end of its existence and this was the first time that I was in the place. It was an oddly shaped room and had jungle themed decor. I don't even want to imagine the nightmare that running sound in that place would have been for a band. The building that the club was in has since been leveled and replaced with overpriced condos or an overpriced hotel. Progress marches on, I guess.
