Greetings dear listeners,
I hope this finds you well.
Here's the run down and other odds and ends for the seventh broadcast:
New High on Fire will be released on April 3rd. If you are like me and can't wait to hear it, De Vermis Mysteriis is streaming in its entirety on that great home for heavy metal npr.org.
No joke, NPR is streaming the new High on Fire. Wonders never cease.
I would suggest pre-ordering the vinyl for this one. The sound coming off of the vinyl is something to behold with High on Fire.
I did notice the track listing is in a different order for the NPR stream than what is listed on Amazon for the official release. I don't think it matters what order they put these tracks in because they are all good and they will all melt your brain.
Also on April 3rd, Tim from Rise Against will be gracing the cover of Alternative Press with an interview inside to go along with the glossy picture.
The new Off! record is available for pre-order as well. Their web page will direct you to Interpunk if you'd like to get in line and wait for May 8th. The 1,500 copies pressed on white vinyl have sold out but black vinyl always sounds better to me. Less can go wrong with making the black pellets used for pressing.
There is a science to pressing vinyl that binary code just can't beat.
The list of US releases for Record Store Day 2012 has been made known. I found it underwhelming and frustrating at the same time. The "regional" releases and limited runs need to be stopped. All those records will be on ebay by the end of the day and the people who actually like music get left out in the cold unless they want pay three times retail for them.
That's enough whining.
We make our first visit to the new Anti-Flag record tonight. The General Strike is worth the funds in my opinion.
We also hear from my personal copilot, Bill Hicks. The man was a genius and he is my hero. If something needed said, by golly he'd say it.
Thanks for visiting.

Episode Six: Rest In Peace Michael Davis
Welcome to Episode Six.
I have just returned from seeing I Am The Avalanche play another impressive set. I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing that band hit a stage.
Through the power of a big as hell iced coffee and post-show giddiness, I will get this posted.
A few weeks ago, the world lost Michael Davis. He was also known as the bass player for the MC5. The significance of that band shouldn't need explanation. We pay a small tribute to the man throughout this installment.
There is also a bit of comedic wretchedness included by way of one Mr. T. If you can make it through listening to that track, you can go a long way in this life.
Here's a link to an article about horrible instances of rap music in pop culture. Appropriation by the white man must cease.
The History of Horrible Rap Music In Popular Culture
The US list of releases for Record Store Day should be made known any day now. If it's anything like the UK list, there really doesn't seem to be that much coming out. The Refused releases are nice to see but The Shape of Punk To Come and Songs to Fan The Flames of Discontent were already available on the Epitaph website, last I checked. So far, the Lemuria and Horrible Crowes singles are what will be getting me out of the house on April 21st.
But anyway. Here's the link to the show:

Episode Five: We're Here To Make You Think About Death And Get Sad And Stuff
Greetings listeners.
Anti-Flag played their record release show this past Sunday. The only thing I didn't like about their set was not enough new songs. They only played two songs off of the new record.
The General Strike comes out on Tuesday, March 20th. After repeated listens, I like what I hear.
The Flatliners were one of the opening acts. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a band from Canada. Not to speak disparagingly of my neighbors to the north but I always found Canadian music lacking that animal instinct. I guess it's all of that clean air and health care they have that takes the piss and vinegar out of their music. In my humble opinion, it's a fair trade-off. Bare Naked Ladies and Alanis in exchange for not going bankrupt when illness strikes.
In addition to Anti-Flag, the release schedule for 2012 is starting to look promising.
OFF! will be releasing their second effort on May 8th.
The Gaslight Anthem have completed recording Handwritten which is set for a summer release. This may turn out to be early fall given artwork layout and other post-production issues that always arise.
Rival Schools seems to be back to work. Hopefully they can hold it together now that they are a three piece.
Dinosaur Jr. may have something new for us by the end of the year as well.
There is a bit of a theme to this episode. It involves the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Science fiction that movie was indeed.
Thanks for listening.

Episode Four: This Mayhem Is Electric
Greetings and welcome to Episode Four of the Out of Step Music Hour.
I hope this finds everyone well and that you've made it through your day in one piece.
We have added Russia, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Canada to the list of international visitors to this humble venture. I hope you've all enjoyed the music so far.
Trying to get a new show posted every Wednesday seems to be working out for now. I'm sure the pace may slow down at some point but I'll try to keep it up while I can.
There isn't much to report other than I am feeling old and lame for passing up shows on Sunday and Monday. It was Matthew Pryor from the Get Up Kids on Sunday. And Anti-Flag filming a basement show on Monday. My legs hurt from kicking myself for missing both.
Thanks for stopping by, your listenership is greatly appreciated.
