Beware The Wild Pigs... They've Gone Rabid
What a weird few weeks for our internal invading force known as the police. The stories kept coming and I couldn't keep up with them to get anything written before the next one hit the news.
The first story to grab my attention was the police chief in Greensburg, Pennsylvania that was brought up on federal drug charges. Did this scumbag binge The Shield while sitting in his car on duty and think “Hey, I could do that.”
I can't wait until they start looking at all of the other drug cases that he worked to see if he was misdirecting leads and burying evidence on the people he was working with. Every single person that was locked up on a drug conviction with his name on it should be released.
And since we are talking about the Greensburg area, I can't wait until the white power connections that will inevitably be in his background come out. Although, I'm sure the local media won't touch any of that information with a ten foot pole because of their own mediocrity and this country's obsessive veneration of law enforcement.
The part of this story that had me doubled over with laughter was when this “super-cop” released a statement through his lawyer saying that this incident is not indicative of his years of service. How could it not be? And how could anyone believe such a stupid statement?
For anyone that hasn't been paying attention for the past several hundred years, incidents like this are very indicative of police service. They do what they want and the rest of us can't do anything about it. He thought he could facilitate narcotics transactions and get away with it while having a job that is intended to stop the facilitation narcotics transactions.
What an asshole.
. . .
The second story that I couldn't look away from was the horrific murder of Tyre Nichols by Memphis police. Mr. Nichols was a father, a photographer and a skateboarder. Much like Elijah McClain, Tyre Nichols seemed like my kind of weirdo. Skating and photography are activities that force the practitioner to view the world in a different way than everyone else. The police didn't just murder someone, they stole the life of a person that is in very short supply in this country. We need people that can see the world with a different perspective but they beat him to death for no reason.
Of course the cops lied when they said they pulled Nichols over for a traffic violation. Cops lie all the time. Every surveillance camera in the area showed no evidence of a traffic violation.
Not to mention the seventy-one contradictory commands they yelled at Mr. Nichols over a thirteen minute period. How can someone obey a command to extend their arms when their arms have already been bound by another officer? Or how can someone obey a command to get on the ground when they are already on the ground? And how can anybody do anything but panic and shit their pants when they have a gang of rabid cops surrounding them and yelling at them? That's why I sincerely say, “Go fuck yourself,” to any intellectual lightweight that wonders why people just don't obey the cops.
The murder of Tyre Nichols brought some of America's greatest idiots in front of cameras to further denounce the police reform bill that was named after George Floyd. These bootlicking dipshits were claiming that the reform bill mainly focused on chokeholds and that a chokehold wasn't used in this murder. They came so close to understanding that reforms won't work and that policing is what's wrong with the police. They were making great points in favor of defunding and abolishing the police without even noticing it.
I have refused to watch the video that showed the end of Mr. Nichols' life. Instead I've invested my time in watching his skateboarding videos and looking at his photography. I can't handle watching another person being publicly executed while calling out for their mother.
Many people have wondered why there wasn't a mass movement for Tyre Nichols like there was in 2020. A lot of people are burned out from the work. This shit happens on an almost daily basis so pushing back against it becomes exhausting. Some of the leaders from 2020 are still in jail or facing bullshit charges from the uprising and others are doing the work in other ways through organizing and mutual aid. As much as I want to see every cop car that I pass burst into flames, it's just not feasible to keep that amount of pressure on the public at large for an extended period of time.
I don't have much else to say about the loss of Mr. Nichols. It's not really my place to step in front of that situation. The sadness and the anger have been overwhelming, as always, but this time around the tears felt heavier and I don't know what to do about that.
. . .
The third story that got a rise out of my eyebrow was the Pittsburgh Police choosing to ignore an ordinance that outlawed low level, bullshit traffic stops. This was a ballot measure that the residents of Pittsburgh voted for and the cops are blatantly choosing to ignore it.
Outlawing these types of traffic stops would go a long way in preventing initial interactions between the police and everyone else. This referendum was going to act as a fence to try to protect us from the vicious animals that the cops are so of course the police can't have that and won't go along with it.
This makes me wonder what our civilian government is going to do to push back against this refusal. I mean, other than absolutely nothing which is what I'm expecting.
As much as I was proud to vote for Ed Gainey to become the city's mayor because I saw him in the streets with the rest of us, I don't think he's going to do a thing about the cops refusing to follow the law that they swore an oath to uphold.
I know the rationale of the police is, “What are you going to call the cops?”
. . .
In other weird Pittsburgh Police news, the cops that were fired for murdering Jim Rogers are trying to get their jobs back. Of course the head of the police union was plastering his dumb face all over the local news to justify giving murderers their jobs back so they can once again suit up as jackbooted thugs.
I am a strong believer in expelling cop unions out of the labor movement. Every time I've been on a picket line they've always been on the other side of it. So fuck these scabs that choose to protect the property of the owner class instead of holding the line against the bosses.
These pigs were fired because they murdered someone not because they were late to work so I really don't think they deserve to be reinstated.
. . .
In an effort to maintain order and to be seen as “tough on crime,” we have allowed our cities to be overrun by cops that think they are above the law because they put on a costume before they go to work. We have given them more money out of our municipal budgets than they know what to do with and every time they fuck up the solution is to give them more money. Somehow the decision to let our cities and social services fall into disrepair while giving cops money for tanks was seen as a good idea.
As society continues to break down while we all sit back and watch, the police are going to become more and more unruly and lawless as the ruling class depends on them more and more to keep us rabble rousers in line. And a large portion of society is okay with that as long as it's clean and quiet when they go outside.
